FROM OWNER-MANAGER TO PLATFORM INVESTMENT
In the episode, Kristoffer Basse shares his experiences from the sale of Bruhn Newtech, which in 2024 became a platform investment in the defense technology platform Evallic, established by the private equity firm Adelis.
Bruhn Newtech develops advanced software-based systems for the detection and management of CBRN threats (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) and today forms a key part of Evallic, which also includes several other specialized defense technology companies.
“It is a market where technological specialization and proven performance are absolutely critical — both in relation to customers and investors. This places unique demands on an M&A process,” says Kristoffer Bassein the podcast.
A MARKET IN RAPID ACCELERATION
The episode also highlights the significant growth in M&A activity within the defense sector. The number of transactions increased by approximately 50 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, and private equity firms are showing growing interest in the sector.
This development is driven by a combination of structural growth, strong earnings profiles, and a high degree of predictability in demand.
“The defense industry has increasingly become a strategic investment case. It is no longer a niche — it is an area where capital and expertise are rapidly converging,” says Peter Rønde Jakobsen, partner at Nordic M&A.
